Poin penting

Four years ago, Opaper started as a personal project. After spending more than 10 years in the U.S. startup ecosystem, our founder, Joanathan McIntosh, coded the first version of Opaper in her bedroom to help a friend sell more seamlessly via WhatsApp. Within a couple of weeks of launching, it spread organically and attracted hundreds of users. Since then, Opaper has grown into a 360° business platform supporting more than 45,000 merchants across Indonesia.

That growth came from being deeply hands-on and listening closely to merchants. The team backpacked across Java for months to interview business owners and understand how they truly operated. We worked directly on the ground - as cashiers and in merchants’ kitchens -  dogfooding the product ourselves, so we could build systems that reliably handle real-world volume and cases. In return, we’re very grateful to have witnessed our merchants grow from a single small stall into regional brands, in part enabled by the products we built.

Opaper was built with a clear intention: to build something meaningful by Indonesians, for Indonesia, and to promote Indonesia to the world. Along the way, Opaper achieved that by becoming the first Indonesian startup in its category to expand to Australia, showing that solutions built in Indonesia can compete and scale globally. Opaper also attracted and earned the support of global investors from the United States, Europe, Japan, Singapore and Indonesia.

In addition to its core platform, Opaper has launched initiatives to help build a stronger ecosystem and community for local businesses, including the CERIA program, which promotes Indonesian culinary entrepreneurs globally, and the Listen Ruparupi podcast, highlighting women leaders in the lifestyle, food and beverage, and hospitality industries.

Today, we are excited to share that as of 31 December 2025, Opaper product has been acquired by PT Elektronik Distribusi Otomatisasi Terkemuka (eDOT). Opaper’s product operations will continue as usual. Merchants can expect the same product experience and ongoing support. Together with eDOT, we believe Opaper product will be able to serve more merchants across Indonesia, strengthen operational excellence, and contribute more meaningfully to Indonesia’s digital commerce ecosystem for years to come.

To every merchant, partner, investors and team member who has been part of Opaper’s journey, thank you. We are grateful for your continued support and excited for what comes next. 🙏
